Barton L. Goering, Ph. D., has been a teacher and administrator in Kansas for 35 years, with 28 years as superintendent of schools. He was superintendent for five years in Pretty Prairie, followed by 23 years in Spring Hill prior to his retirement in 2015. His many accomplishments include starting three charter schools designed to increase school choice opportunities in Kansas. While superintendent of schools, he started a virtual school in 2009 that currently serves over 1000 students across Kansas in grades K-12. Dr. Goering has participated in many local, state and national organizations including memberships on the national board of directors for the American Association of School Administrators. He received his education from McPherson School District, the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, as well as taking leadership courses at UCLA. He also has years of experience working with low-income and disabled children in Topeka Public Schools. Dr. Goering also has experience working with business leaders through multiple chambers of commerce and was a member of the Leadership Kansas class of 2012.
