Season 11 - 2020 - One Voice From A Distance
In 2020, Lawrence Opera Theatre’s 11th season, One Voice from a Distance, took place during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite strict protocols like masking and social distancing, we were determined to keep the music alive. All performances were held outdoors, with Theatre Lawrence transforming their parking lot into an open-air stage. Patrons stayed in their vehicles, and our artists performed for an audience whose enthusiastic “car horn applause” became a heartwarming symbol of resilience and creativity. In a year marked by uncertainty, these unique performances were a beacon of light, reminding us of the power of art to bring people together, even from a distance.
